“Agents of SHIELD,” which this season has been garnering ratings lower than ABC/Marvel’s long-cancelled “Agent Carter” series, has been renewed for a fifth season.
This means ABC will have two Marvel series next season featuring inhumans, given that “The Inhumans” has long been scheduled to debut on the network this September.
The renewal of “Agents” brings the total number of current or upcoming Marvel primetime TV shows to 14.

The other current or upcoming Marvel series are Freeform’s “Cloak and Dagger” and “New Warriors,” Hulu’s “The Runaways,” Netflix’s “Daredevil,” “Jessica Jones,” “Luke Cage,” “Iron Fist,” “The Punisher” and “The Defenders,” Fox’s “The Gifted,” FX’s “Legion” and FXX’s “Deadpool.”
The just-announced “Deadpool” will be a primetime animated series written and produced by “Atlanta” mastermind Donald Glover.
