Hey folks, Harry here... I've been covering the film world, film fest world and all things film for quite a long time now - but I've never seen anything quite like this. Amazon has picked up a block of 40 films that played at SXSW FILM FESTIVAL 2017. 40 films. SXSW 2017 played 125 Features. Given a few of those were studio movies and indie films with distribution... that means over 30% of the films that played at SXSW, now have a highway to your eyeballs. That's amazing. According to Variety, AMAZON picked up 15 films that played Sundance... All of these will be in a FILM FESTIVAL STARS section.

I love this as I saw a ton of movies at SXSW, but at best, a human is only gonna see about a third. Out of this group, I saw SATAN SAID DANCE & MOST BEAUTIFUL ISLAND (tremendous creepy fucking film), but that's it... So you can see why I'm excited. All of these titles were absent from the SXSW Screener library that's available for critics, so this is just a gift for any faithful Prime owner. I hope when they hit AMAZON, they've got a SXSW section - so you can easily toggle and stream. I heard great things about LA BARRACUDA and BAD LUCKY GOAT!
I'd love for something like this to occur with FANTASTIC FEST - just so you good folks could see the amazing selection we get for the festival every year. Also - I hope AMAZON gives SXSW Programmers a bonus for programming their Streaming service with such a great selection of films for all of ya!
