Fox has just greenlit to series “The Gifted,” about X-Men-y Marvel mutants on the run from forces ready to capture, dissect and weaponized them. It stars Amy Acker (“Angel,” “Dollhouse”), Stephen Moyer (“True Blood”), Jamie Chung (“Gotham”) and Emma Dumont (“Bunheads,” “Aquarius”) as Polaris.
Fox can’t make live-action TV series without Disney’s permission Between “The Gifted” and Fox-owned FX’s “Legion,” I am 87% convinced we’re going to get an announcement that Fox-controlled movie characters like Magneto and Sue Storm are going to join Spider-Man, Iron Man, Ant Man, Iron Fist, Star-Lord, Hulk, Thor, Groot and Quake in one giant onscreen Marvel universe.
“The Inhumans,” which hits both cinemas and ABC in September, is already set in that big Nick Fury universe. It stars the guy who plays Ramsay Bolton in “Game of Thrones” and the guy who played that guy in AMC’s “Hell on Wheels.”
Fox formally announces its 2017-18 schedule next Monday. ABC announces its next Tuesday.
