Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. As we enter the Cannes Film Market you're going to see a lot of news about interesting-sounding projects with big names attached to them. They're going to go try to sell foreign territories and raise money. Some of them will succeed, some will disappear into the ether. That's just how things go.
Driven is the first movie to come up in this turn of the wheel and I think it sounds pretty sweet, myself. It has no connection to that terrible Sly Stallone movie. Instead it's about the FBI hunting down John DeLorean, the man who became somewhat of a drug kingpin in order to fund his vision of the futuristic car that'd become famous thanks to Marty, Doc and their adventures through time.
Deadline reports that Lee Pace will play John DeLorean, Timothy Olyphant will play the FBI guy chasing him down and Jason Sudeikis will be the informant that turns on DeLorean.
Nick Hamm, director of The Hole and Killing Bono, is attached to direct and the production outfit is looking to sell both international distribution rights as well as domestic.
The whole thing has a Blow/Wolf of Wall Street vibe to it and that sounds mighty appealing to me. What about you?
