Welcome to the darker side of AICN! M. L. Miller aka Ambush Bug here. A new film has just been announced to be released theatrically at the end of August this summer. It’s called POLAROID and the synopsis reads like this;
From the producers of the THE RING and THE GRUDGE, comes the next iconic horror franchise: POLAROID. High school loner Bird Fitcher has no idea what dark secrets are tied to the Polaroid vintage camera she stumbles upon, but it doesn’t take long to discover that those who have their picture taken meet a tragic end. Based on the award-winning short by Lars Klevberg, the story mixes elements of THE RING and FINAL DESTINATION to create one of the most unique and scary films.
The film is directed by Lars Klevberg (who directed the short film based on the movie), written by ATTACK THE SHOW’s Blair Butler, and stars Kathryn Prescott (FINDING CARTER), Mitch Pileggi (THE X-FILES), Grace Zabriskie (THE GRUDGE), Tyler Young (EYEWITNESS), Keenan Tracey (BATES MOTEL), Samantha Logan (THE FOSTERS), Priscilla Quintana (STRANDED), Madelaine Petsch (RIVERDALE) and Javier Botet (MAMA, IT).
Now, I can’t say I’m a fan of these types of films. With RINGS failing miserably at the box office and basically being the ridiculous key factor in the reason why we don’t have a FRIDAY THE 13TH film coming this winter, it is surprising to me that another GRUDGE/RING style film gets the green light. Still, I’m willing to give any horror movie a chance. It’s got Mitch Pileggi and Hollywood’s go-to monster man (when Doug Jones is busy) Javier Botet, so I won’t rush to judge it just yet. POLAROID develops in theaters August 25, 2017!
