The good news is showrunner Dave Erickson is out as showrunner of “Fear The Walking Dead.”
The better news is AMC has hired Scott Gimple, longtime showrunner of the far more popular “The Walking Dead” (the one with Carol and Daryl and Negan), has been hired as executive producer of “Fear The Walking Dead” (the one with Kim Dickens).
The bad news is Gimple doesn’t come aboard until season four. The upcoming third season was run by Erickson so I’ve every expectation season three will be just as shitty as seasons one and two.
The not-so-great news is Gimple will not serve as “Fear” showrunner. Andrew Chambliss and Ian Goldberg, who write for ABC’s “Once Upon A Time” (which gets even lower ratings than “Fear The Walking Dead”), will jointly run “Fear” starting with season four.

NEW YORK, NY – April 14, 2017 – AMC announced today that it has renewed “Fear the Walking Dead” for a fourth season, ahead of its upcoming season three premiere on June 4. In addition, Andrew Chambliss and Ian Goldberg (“Once Upon a Time”) are boarding “Fear” as co-showrunners, starting with season four. Additionally, Scott M. Gimple, executive producer and showrunner of “The Walking Dead” will become an executive producer of “Fear the Walking Dead.”“We're very excited to continue the journey of ‘Fear The Walking Dead,’ and truly look forward to working with the talented team of Andrew Chambliss, Ian Goldberg, and Scott Gimple,” said Joel Stillerman, president of original programming and development for AMC and SundanceTV.

In the second half of its second season, “Fear the Walking Dead” averaged 5.3 million viewers per episode, including 3.4 million adults 25-54 and 3 million adults 18-49 in Nielsen live+3 ratings, firmly establishing “Fear” as one of the top shows on cable.
AMC previously announced that “Fear the Walking Dead” showrunner Dave Erickson would be transitioning off of the show upon completion of production of season 3 to develop new products for AMC Studios.
