Hey folks, Harry here... the weirdest fucking news hit today... Fede Alvarez, the director of THE EVIL DEAD that wasn't done by Sam Raimi - which still kicked ass - and then the great DON'T BREATHE... well he is apparently set to direct a LABYRINTH 2 after he and Jay Basu write up the script and after Alvarez helms THE GIRL IN THE SPIDER WEB which is the sequel to THE GIRL IN THE DRAGON TATTOO. Now, they say that David Bowie's GOBLIN KING will not be a part of it... but for my money, I'd pay $20 to see Tilda Swinton be the Goblin King in an oversized codpiece. I mean - that codpiece gave birth to an entire generation of young girls that rubbed off on stuffed animals as a result of Bowie's massive codpiece. Which is the key prop that most everyone remembers over all the Henson work - which was greatness.
DARK CRYSTAL... for me, was a stand alone. LABYRINTH felt like something that could continue. Though wasn't overly necessary. My fave character was always LUDO, who I performed for my Baby Sis as a kid and can still summon vocally whenever I need him.
I get that the Goblin King won't be a part of this... Maybe Lady Gaga can become the Goblin Queen this time out and torture some poor older brother watching his bratty sister. Cuz I'd totally grok that. But I want minimal CG and mostly puppets and physical magic.
