The next big creative property coming from New Zealand is MORTAL ENGINES, which Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens are co-writing and producing for the immensely talented Christian Rivers to direct. Well... They've got their casting going. HUGO WEAVING has joined aboard... accompanying everyone's favorite pick for Cable, Stephen Lang, along with Robbie Sheehan, Ronan Rafterty and Hera Hilmar.
As best I can tell, the series takes place in a post apocalypse Earth that has run out of resources, because we didn't get out in Space and mine like we oughta... So Earth has sort of become like Andrew Stanton's Barsoom, with Zondagion gigantic mechanical steampunk cities that move carving great gouges into the the earth. A man encounters a woman and then his life is changed forever. The film is due December 14th, 2018! Personally, I can't wait to see this take shape!
