Sam Mendes tells Bond to go blow, while he circles MY FAVORITE THING IS MONSTERS adaptation!

OH HELL YES!   Hey folks, Harry here...   We talk about wanting something more than giant sequels over and over and over again, but every now and again, something like this happens.   So, you have Sam Mendes...  his last two James Bond films combined for right near $2 BILLION DOLLARS world wide.   Many of us were certain that it was only a matter of time till the strong power of BILLIONS would squash his artistic ability to do anything other than a new James Bond movie - but it looks like...  Sam is ready for something entirely different - and Emil Ferris' MY FAVORITE THING IS MONSTERS from Fantagraphics is that... to a fucking T!

The Graphic Novel purports to be graphic journel of a 10-year old girl in 1960's Chicago - with a Vietnam Vet Brother battling Heroin fueled demons of his own - whilst she investigates the death of a Holocaust Survivor that lived upstairs.   The monsters are both real and imagined - and well... you should check it out.   This just came out.   I'd seen the ads for it - and rushed out to pick it up.   The illustration style is just fan-fucking-tastic - and the story - well, given that Sam Mendes' other Comic Book film was ROAD TO PERDITION - a notably not-superhero tale - and this, also set in Chi-town...   well.   This is the most exciting material that Sam Mendes has ever touched.   This illustration was used by Emil in pitching the story to FANTAGRAPHICS:

This is so much happy news!  If it comes to pass.

Keep it cool,

Harry
