Bob Odenkirk To Be Dubbed For RUN RONNIE RUN!'!'

Hey, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab.

I'm not sure if I should be outraged yet or not. I mean, by now you guys are aware of how much I'm rooting for RUN RONNIE RUN: THE RONNIE DOBBS STORY, A MR. SHOW MOVIE to succeed. Bob Odenkirk and David Cross have been through various indignities in trying to bring their particular brand of madness from the small screen to the big screen, and we've published several articles about the production so far, including THIS ONE, THIS ONE, THIS ONE, and THIS ONE.

In addition to our coverage, Nick Nunziata over at CHUD is doing a pretty kickass job of covering the film's stay in Atlanta. The second part of his five-part interview with the guys can be found HERE, and it's definitely worth checking out.

I've loved being able to give you guys a peek at the process of this film so far, but today I got a press release here at the Moriarty Labs that gave me pause. It seems that Bob Odenkirk's really bad English accent (he'd be the first to tell you how terrible it is) has got New Line nervous, and they're taking fairly drastic measure. To my mind, this could be a disastrous decision, but I'll let you check it out for yourselves...

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

TO ALL MEDIA, EVERYWHERE, NO EXCEPTIONS

Let it be known that world renowned voice coach MEEHAN MONTGOMERY has been hired to re-dub BOB ODENKIRK’S british-accented voice in the feature film, “RUN, RONNIE, RUN: THE RONNIE DOBBS STORY”. Meehan, who has done voice work with hundreds of actors, said he is proud to offer his assistance and wittily remarked, “I was starving for work…I needed the job,” which he capped off with a grim laugh.

MEEHAN has worked in the past with: ROB MORROW on his garbled Boston accent for “Quiz Show”, KEVIN COSTNER on his devil-may-care on-and-off brogue in “Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves”, MICHAEL CAINE on his “Semi-American” accent in “The Cider House Rules”, BRAD PITT on his too-damn-irish in “The Devil’s Own”, DIANE LANE’S over-the-top Boston bilge in, “The Perfect Storm”, HALLE BERRY’S indecipherable clap-trap in “The X-Men”, SCHWARZENEGGER’S slurry robotic Austrian in every movie he makes, and many more.

Meehan will overdub Odenkirk’s voice throughout the film. Odenkirk, when asked to comment, answered in a faux-french accent, “Zis is ze height of rudity!”, then, switching to a clunky Texas swagger, “Yeah, you bay-ter bo-lieve I’m insalted, pardner!” When no one laughed, Odenkirk just laughed to himself and seemed satisfied.

"Moriarty" out.
