Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I'm mixed. Not on Woody Harrelson's character's name in the Young Han Star Wars Standalone flick, but on the fact that this is news in the first place. I love and hate it at the same time. I hate it because the name is new and doesn't really give us any real insight into the kind of movie Lord & Miller are making... it's not an established Star Wars character or anything. So there's nothing to this story besides the reveal of a random name.
But I also love that us Star Wars nerds don't care about that shit at all and just want any new bit of information about what's going on in that world.
Harrelson appeared on Jimmy Fallon and dropped the name of his Star Wars character. Look:
Beckett is a fine name. A strong name. Lots of hard consonants in there. We already knew he was playing a crook and mentor to Young Han, so the only thing he really revealed was the name. He did mention he'll be filming until July, so count on him being a central character.
I did like how Harrelson's such a no bullshit guy about it, though. His answer to whether he was a Star Wars fan or not is more authentic than most these days.
Anyway, now you know that at some point you'll be seeing little Woody Harrelson toys at your local Target or Toys R Us with the name Beckett on 'em.
