Ahoy, squirts! Quint here, taking a quick break from some early morning SXSW review writing to post up this first trailer for Pixar's Coco, a story about a boy who travels to the land of the dead.
My first thought is that it looks absolutley gorgeous and cements my belief that Pixar has firmly established a look for their films as distinct as the classic Disney animation look. You know the difference between a Pixar movie and a Dreamworks CG animated movie in less than a second.
My second thought is that Coco is a couple movies behind this premise right now. Book of Life and Kubo and the Two Strings both tackle similar subject matter in different ways.
That's not to say Pixar's Lee Unkrich and his team won't give us something wholly new with this movie, but it is something that pops into my mind no matter how much I trust the folks at Pixar and Unkrich in particular as a storyteller.
