Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. One of the most interesting eyes in film right now hasn't been as active as I'd like him to be. Drew Goddard's Cabin in the Woods was a hell of a debut feature film for a director. The problem is he's also a great screenwriter, too, so people like Ridley Scott (The Martian) and Steven Spielberg (Robopocalypse) keep hiring him to write their stuff!
That's great and all, but I want to see this man behind the camera again and it looks like he'll get that chance at Fox. Deadline says the studio has picked up Goddard's spec script BAD TIMES AT THE EL ROYALE, which Goddard will produce and direct for the studio. Nothing else is known about the script at this time, but it could be about sad clowns taking off their grease paint make-up in front of dirty mirrors for 2 hours and I'd be excited just because Goddard is directing again. Plus that sounds kind of awesome, doesn't it?
So, good news! I'm sure we'll be hearing more about this project in the coming months as word gets around and it starts casting up. Thoughts?
