Hey folks, Harry here... I have to admit... I love hating fucking Nazis. They're the best bad guys - There are no qualms in seeing them die by the thousands or individually in an extraordinarily painful manner. Their faces are the Earth version of a Catcher's Mitt, punch punch punch. And it seems that JJ Abrams agrees.
He and Billy Ray (Academy Award nominated writer of CAPTAIN PHILLIPS) were shooting the shit and came up with a notion about a mission on D-Day about a pair of Paratroopers that drop behind enemy lines to knock out a Radio Tower in Normandy that could be used to get reenforcements. An important mission - and oh yeah, they apparently run into a Nazi borne Supernatural terror they have to deal with. FUN! Billy Ray wrote the script with THE REVENENT writer Mark L Smith doing a spit & polish upon it all.
Now they've gotten Julius Avery to helm it. You may have seen his film SON OF A GUN back in 2014. I liked the film, but them I'm usually liking Ewan McGregor films, especially ones where he's off his sweet character roles.
JJ has said he's done with Seriel Films and Pre-Existing titles - and coming up with notions like this - well, that's what I love and miss from Spielberg. I loved the Amblin films based on a story by Spielberg, and JJ going that route might be quite a bit of fun. Can't wait to see what he's gonna cook up for himself to shoot. OVERLORD is set up over at Paramount, and the studio is looking to fill the two lead roles. Story got broke by Variety!
