Michael Pena to star in alien invasion flick EXTINCTION!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Berlin Film Festival is around the corner, which means the Berlin Film Market is gearing up, which then means we're going to be hearing about a lot of actors attached to a lot of projects that a lot of producers are hoping to sell foreign rights to.

Berlin and the American Film Market are the two biggest times of year for these things. You'll hear about a lot of movies with some big names attached. The difference between these casting announcements and the typical Hollywood announcements is that the market ones are a little less real, meaning if they don't get the money they need from foreign sales based on a concept, filmmaker and on-screen talent the project could just fold up and disappear into the land of unmade movies.

One of the movies hoping to happen is called Extinction and they've landed Michael Pena to star, per Deadline. The story, which had help from Arrival screenwriter Eric Heisserer as well as Spenser Cohen and Brad Caleb Kane, centers on a family man who has premonitions of his family in danger only to see that come to pass with the arrival of a hostile alien species. Indie director Ben Young is attached to helm.

Michael Pena has been delivering the goods for years and to see him get a shot at leading a big budget sci-fi action flick sounds super to me. I hope the foreign sales go well for Good Universe and Mandeville Films and this thing actually happens. What about you?
