AICN and Playboy Premiere The Unrated SNATCH Trailer!

El Cosmico here, those of you who read the site like you're supposed to know that we here at AICN love SNATCH. It's a hell of a fun, well-done film that was the highlight of this year's Butt-Numb-A-Thon. It's the new one from Guy Ritchie, the fellow behind LOCK, STOCK, AND TWO SMOKING BARRELS, and I think it's a cut above that previous film. I would go so far as to use the phrase "truly outstanding".

Due to the funderful nature of the MPAA (also known frequently as the "suck-ass MPAA"), this preview has been red-banded. So, you're not going to see it at your multiplexes/megaplexes/googolplexes. Fortunately, you have friends like us, and the fine folks over at, who have the good sense to bring you such cinematic goodness.

This sucker opens nationwide on January 19th, but in the mean time, you can watch the trailer online, over and over again.

We've got it in QuickTime, two sizes, 320x240 (13MB) and 160x120 (4.9MB). Both are 1 minute, 54 seconds. Check it out, and enjoy your day.

ok, it's just a trailer. What is the movie about? Who knows. A diamond that everyone wants. A lot of dumb criminals. Sideways gun shooting. Farina. Blokes. Brad Pitt acting crazy. Put it all in a blender... you have cult gold. I'll wait for the real revirews.

Nice trailer, looks a lot like Richie`s first movie. Hopefully Pitt can pull off a better accent than in Devil`s Own. I'm just wondering why the hell it is r-rated. I just saw 6th Day a few days ago (and liked it quite a bit) in which people get shot (quite graphically), some fingers and a leg get chopped off and arnie says "go fuck yourself". Now I don't mind that film being rated PG-13 at all, my only question is what exactly is it that makes the Snatch trailer an r?? Someone please explain, I'm at a loss.

  • ok, i was tired of the bashing harry's sex life thing, anyways, my uncle in england saw snatch and said that it was damn good, england's brilliant answer to pulp fiction, though it has taken a while, but he says that guy ritchie deliveres again, and brad pitt is great, even if he is married to the owner of the most holy snatch of all, jennifer aniston. peace out peace love lemons

  • Dec. 15, 2000, 6:27 p.m. CST

Jeez... all they'd have to do to get the R-rating off this trail

by LlGHTST0RMER remove the word "shit." Come on. What's the big deal? But for that matter, why does one simple four-letter-word warrant the R-rating? Even if this trailer ran before a PG-13 flick (which it wouldn't, but I'm speaking hypothetically,) I sincerely doubt you wouldn't hear the word "shit" in the feature you are there to see anyway. The MPAA needs to grow the fuck up. They're the ones who make a big deal out of so many tiny, innocuous details in movies these days, really.

PS: My Favorite part of the whole trailer (the extended version

(Oops... need to learn the difference between the RETURN and TAB keys...) My favorite part: "See AOL Keyword 'Snatch.'" Makes me want to write a movie called "Big, Throbbing Horse Cock" just for that simple reason.

I saw the whole movie last friday.

They opened it in LA for one week, so that it will be considered for the Oscars. I must say it lives up to and beyond expectations. Great Fun Flick!

    I don't get it.

    by wato

With a forward like that from Harry, I was expecting boobs and other fleshy pleasures. The trailer was great without them, but I don't get why the thing is red banded. This must be some sort of ploy to get the movie more word of mouth. I can't see a distributor risking profits for the "integrity" of the trailer when that "integrity" consists of keeping the word "shit" in the thing. It seems to be a cheap trick but I'm still gonna go see this. Merry Christmas all.

And it isn't a notch on Lock Stock the only good part was the fight (because they used Oasis - fucking in the bushes remix). my other point: did anyone understand a word that came out of Pitts mouth? (will the yanks even get the joke?)

    by Larry_Talbot

I saw this - it is lame. I liked Lock Stock so expected some fun. Only Brad Pitt is good in this whole confusing, unfunny mess.

    could it be ...

    by felliniesque

Maybe the Virgin Mary comment is what earned the trailer its redband? If they all (they being the public) made such a brouhaha over DOGMA, I would think the MPAA would not want any blasphemous comments on anything they approve.

This is the exact same trailer I downloaded from Dark Horizons or some other site in early October. Only now it has the Aint-it-cool logo attached. Whoopee.

You're not supposed to understand what Pitt's saying, jackass! And yes, everyone knows that, over here in Europe, we have already seen this film. Big deal. I know that you're just venting because Americans normally see films months before we do, so it's nice to rub their faces in it when we get a glimpse of "Snatch" (sorry) or "O Brother" before they do. And before you start wondering whether or not "Americans" will get this, remember that, just like us Brits, Americans are a large, diverse group of people. Many will get it. Many will not. Sorry for the rant. I'm just getting sick of all the America versus Europe (or Britain) stuff that's been clogging up AICN's talkbacks for a while now.

I don't know why they're calling this a premiere. I downloaded this "unrated" trailer (All they say is "shit". I'm pretty sure that the movie that will immediately be following this trailer will have at least four dozen more uses of the word. What the fuck!!?!??), as well as the teaser trailer (which is friggin' hilarious), off of back in September. If you want a good site with up-to-date trailers, definitely check there regularly. I do. The quality on the Playboy/AICN trailer is piss-poor compared to the trailer from Movie-List. Oh, and this movie is gonna rock. I also bought the soundtrack off of UK a few months back and it rocks too. Rock over London. Rock on Green Bay. Go Pack Go!!!

don't be sucked in by snatch

    by corporatewanker

Snatch is a dog of a movie - don't be fooled by Mr Madge's valiant first effort. This one takes the better actors and the worst elements of LS&2SB and creates a triumph of style over substance. Yer man Pitt mumbles his way incoherently through a nasty script filled with bigoted, lazy stereotypes - thieving, workshy Irish, money grabbing Jews, bungling criminal blacks. Snatch - great title, shit film.

    Bag o' shite

    by I'mAlanPartridge

Deeply bad film. Not in that its awful awful, just has so many bits that fail as jokes, scenes, plot parts and actors. Pitt was cool. Frank Butcher was cool (ahhh! can't remember his name!). That was about it. Lame jokes. Poor delivery. Grotesques as characters. Swearing replacing one-liners. ouch. ouch. ouch. ouch. ouch.

This is my review - posted on AICN in September

    by Bruce Wayne

Well it's just my jinging luck, for the first time in my 29 years I get to go to the States for 3 weeks, as you can imagine, I was sooooo very excited at this prospect. I got to check out The Cell (dire), Hollow Man (Popcorn Fun), Space Cowboys(silly plot), and Coyote Ugly(Flashdance anyone?). However, my glee was soured somewhat before my departure when I realised that SNATCH was to open on 4th September here in the UK, bang smack in the middle of my vacation. With a slightly downhearted feeling I resolved to see the film immediately upon my return to blighty. Well, our petrol crisis slightly scuppered my plans, but I did get to see the film on Saturday (having returned on Thursday), was it worth the wait - hell yeah!! kind of. Still reeling from the effects of jet lag (5 hour flight from Maui to San Fran, a 7 hour wait in San Fran Airport, a 10 hour flight from San Fran to Heathrow and then a 3.5 hour drive - all this with absolutely no sleep and only The Skulls on the plane to keep me interested - I AM NEVER FLYING UNITED AIRLINES AGAIN!!!), I settled down in the UCG Megaplex in Sheffield and eagerly awaited the film. Now I'm sure that everyone knows the plot inside out - it's all about a stolen diamond - AND THAT'S IT!!. However, this gem purely acts as a catalyst for a series of situations and characters to be played out, and this is the films strength - FORGET THE FREAKING STORY, JUST SIT BACK AND ENJOY THE RIDE!!! This film is essentially LOCK, STOCK 2, no matter what anybody else says, but only in the same way as Robin and the 7 Hoods could be classed as a sequel to Oceans 11, ie, mainly it's the same actors playing the same characters with different names - but who cares when it's this much fun. It's a darker film than LSa2SB, but for my mind has more depth. Where as Ritchies previous opus was a flimsily thrown together story, SNATCH is a less flimisly thrown together story, but with more characterisations, if we forget the 2 main characters Turkish and Tommy - Don't get me wrong they are a necessity, and Turkish especially adds to the film, but unfortunately, they ain't given much meat to chew with. Jason Statham shines out, making the most of his lines, but these characters are the least interesting of the film. Turkish and Tommy are illegal boxing promoters looking to make money in a shady world, they set up a fight with devious crime lord "Brick Top" - a FANTASTIC Alan Ford - who definitely says "cunt" or should I say "CAHNT!" better than anyone else. However their plans are scuppered when Pikey/Gypsy/Traveller "Mickey" ( Brad Pitt - more on this newcomer later), decks their fighter with one punch after a bust up over a caravan, and leaves them unable to fulfill their fight with Brick Top. Now Brick Top is not a man to be messed with, as he will quickly chop you up and feed you to his pigs who, he informs us "Can eat 2 pounds of raw flesh a minute." So how do they sort it out, well.......go watch the film you monkeys!!! Now this makes it seem simplistic, but running alongside this story is a yiddish diamond theft in Holland, involving Benicio Del Torro (where da fuck did that accent come from), Dennis Farina, and Eastenders' own dodgy car dealer Mike "RICKY!!" Reid Of course the two plots intertwine, through a Russian gun runner "Boris the Blade" (Rene Szerbvadfdlakj;ldsakj - or whatever), A hitman for Hire "Bullet Tooth Tony" (The excellent Vinnie Jones, far better than he was in Lock, Stock and despite Gone in 60 Seconds, proving that he can handle dialogue with faultless ease.), 3 guys holding up a betting shop and a Dog with what seems like an inherent hatred of long leather coats. Throw into the mix murder, more underworld villains and a very sharp script and you have SNATCH. A hugely enjoyable film, snappy, witty and damn good fun. Let's come back to this new guy Brad Pitt, don't know if you've heard much about him. He's a pretty young boy, apparently he's married to someone from the t.v. show "Chums" or something - joking aside, he is excellent as the Pikey Mickey, his Irish accent hiding words and making him almost undecipherable, which is the whole point of the character. If ever I have seen one character make a film - this is IT! What with Fight Club and Snatch, Pitt is showing himself to be a true actor and not just a face. When I first heard that he was to be in the film I was skeptical, sure I like Pitt but I thought too much of the picture may have rested on him - I'm glad to say I was wrong, Ritchie thankfully uses his character as a crutch to the rest of the film, instead of the main point of the film and boy does it work. Ritchies' direction is more assured than in Lock, Stock, and still has the flashy style of an auteur, however, this could be his downfall. He needs to change his style for his next film, and perhaps loose a bit of the gimmickery. Certainly, he should now leave british gangsters alone, he started the recent chapter with Lock, Stock and will hopefully close it with Snatch, and with one noticeable exception - the excellent Gangster No. 1., it's been a genre that has failed (Circus, Rancid Alluminium anyone?). So in closing, go see Snatch, it's snappy, witty and enjoyable, even if it is just more of the same - Guy, just give us something different next time. Till Next Time Harry & Co. MARK P.S. Vinnie Jones - hated him as a footballer, thought he was so, so in Lock, Stock...but he really comes into his own in Snatch - he's gonna be huge.

    The snatch theatrical trailer--WHAT MUSIC?

    by JTylor

Is out now, and I actually like it bettter than this one. Anyway, does ANYONE know what the killer guitar theme they play over the clever, '60s style actor title cards is from (when they go, you know, "Benicio Del Toro"/Stillframe, etc)? It's the third piece of music played after that generic bit of stuff at the beginning and the snippets of "Morning Lemon" by the Chemical Bros.
