Ethan Hawke & Noomi Rapace to star in a 70's True Bank Heist thriller called STOCKHOLM!!!

Hey folks, Harry here...  Ya know the phrase... "The Stockholm Syndrome"?   Well, it looks like Ethan Hawke and Noomi Rapace are set to star in a period film that takes place about 40 years ago and involves the actual incident that created that famous condition!   The film will be called, simply, STOCKHOLM and it is being written and directed by Robert Budreau.  The film will be a no holds barred bank heist thriller set in 1973 when the bank & hostage crisis took place in Sweden.

The film is apparently going to be based to some degree upon "The Bank Drama" which was a New Yorker article that was published that following year in 1974!  Imagine DOG DAY AFTERNOON, but where the hostages loved Pacino.   The film is being made by Sierra/Affinity and their President of International Sales & Distribution, Jonathan Kier says, "“STOCKHOLM will offer moviegoers a raw glimpse into intense events that transpired over four decades ago coining a psychological condition that still intrigues the world today with Robert’s creative direction coupled with Ethan and Noomi’s tremendous talents, we are certain audiences around the globe will be captivated by this thrilling true story.”

Now you may remember Robert Budreau and Ethan Hawke working together before in that Chet Baker biopic, BORN TO BE BLUE.

This is a fascinating piece of crime history, that even went on to shape the defense for Patty Hearst here in the United States after.   Here's some vidoes about the incident:

This is a film we ought to keep an eye out for!

Keep it cool,

Harry
