While "Alien" director Ridley Scott is putting the finishing touches on a “Prometheus” sequel titled “Alien Covenant,” fellow writer-director Neill Blomkamp (“District 9,” “Elysium,” “Chappie”) has long been planning a sequel to James Cameron’s “Aliens” that would ignore “Alien3” and follow the further adventures of Ripley, Hicks and Newt, with Sigourney Weaver and Michael Biehn intended to reprise their “Aliens” roles.
But a new Twitter exchange casts doubt that Blomkamp’s sequel will ever see the light of day:
“what are the chances of the alien project happening?” a tweeter asked Blomkamp.
“slim,” Blomkamp replied Friday.
