Hey folks, Harry here... I see a whole lot of movies. A whole lot. Especially from October through December, when as a voting member of the Austin Film Critic Association I get sent screeners for most of the movies that get released in that time frame for Awards Consideration. I have to admit, the Golden Globes snuck up on me last night... I hadn't even looked at the nominations they made, because... the show is usually fun for the intoxicated celebrities, the political floor show and all the glitz and glamour. So when the nominated Best Animated Films were mentioned - and MY LIFE AS A ZUCCHINI was shown - I was like... WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT MOVIE? I love the animated category - and while I haven't seen MY LIFE AS A ZUCCHINI, in my mind, as I wrote on my best of list, my top two ANIMATED FILMS of 2016 are KUBO & THE TWO STRINGS and THE RED TURTLE (which is a wordless masterpiece from France that is truly a stunning film too) - then I'd say MOANA and then ZOOTOPIA, for me. So, of course, Golden Globes went with ZOOTOPIA - but the Globes did something awesome - they put a new Animated film on my radar - and I went out to look for the trailer - and now I get to share with all of you...
Isn't that neat looking? It debuted at Cannes, folks seem to love it. The trailer is in French with subtitles, but GKIDS is doing an English Dubb with Nick Offerman, Ellen Page, Will Forte and Amy Sedaris - all lending their voices to an orphanage tale. Apparently it'll be hitting our theaters beginning February 24 in NY and LA - then spreading out to the rest of us eventually!
