Woody Harrelson, who worked with producer Allison Shearmur on the Hunger Games movies, is in talks to join Shearmur’s Han Solo movie.
If a deal can be hammered out Harrelson will join “Game of Thrones” star Emilia Clark, “Hail Caesar!” star Alden Ehrenreich (who plays Solo) and “Atlanta” star Donald Glover (who plays Lando).
Directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller (“21 Jump Street,” “The Lego Movie”) from a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan (“The Empire Strikes Back,” “The Force Awakens”) and son Jon Kasdan ("Freaks and Geeks," "In The Land of Women"), the prequel depicts what Solo was up to before he met Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa.
Lord and Miller share a long, rich background in comedy, and Harrelson is now onscreen in “Edge of Seventeen,” for my money the funniest movie of 2016.
Disney has earmarked May 25, 2018, as the Solo movie’s release date.
