HERC RADIO!! He Appraises MISS SLOANE, JACKIE, & MOONLIGHT!! Plus STAR TREK, STAR WARS, DC & GILMORE News!!

I am – Hercules!!

AICN’s own Emily Horrorella will co-host my Periscope show “Count The Screaming Argonauts,” launched as usual 9 p.m. PT Saturday. “Jackie” is probably the best of the three main movies we’ll be talking about, followed by “Miss Sloane” and “Moonlight.”

NEW TOPIC! While director Gareth Edwards was quick to confirm to a French interviewer that Luke Skywalker won’t be in “Rogue One,” he would not confirm the same for Princess Leia. “I don’t want to ruin it for people,” was all he would say on the matter. Edwards also said “Rogue One” will being with a prologue set 15 years before the events of 1977’s “Star Wars.”

NEW TOPIC! There are new rumors afoot that Armie Hammer, 30, and John Cleese, 77, will be taking on roles in the DC Comics cinematic universe.  These rumors are precipitated by who or what has begun following these actors on Twitter.   (In 2009 Hammer was cast as Bruce Wayne in George Miller’s aborted “Justice League: Mortal” movie.)

NEW TOPIC! “Star Trek: Discovery” co-creator Bryan Fuller tells Newsweek he’s done creatively with the CBS All Access series:

Fuller—who retains an executive producer credit—wrote the first two episodes of Discovery and the story arc for the rest of the 13-part first season. CBS said it would see his “vision through,” but the writer confirms he has no active involvement with the series.

“I’m not involved in production, or postproduction, so I can only give them the material I’ve given them and hope that it is helpful for them. I’m curious to see what they do with it,” he says. He commented on a potential second season: “They have my number and if they need me I will absolutely be there for them.”

“Ultimately, with my responsibilities [elsewhere], I could not do what CBS needed to have done in the time they needed it done for Star Trek. It felt like it was best for me to focus on landing the plane with American Gods and making sure that was delivered in as elegant and sophisticated a fashion as I could possibly do.”

NEW TOPIC! “Gilmore Girls” is Netflix’ third biggest series, according to research firm Symphony Advanced Media, trailing “Fuller House” and “Orange Is The New Black.” That means “Gilmore Girls” is a bigger draw than “House of Cards” and Marvel’s “Jessica Jones,” “Luke Cage” and “Daredevil”!

Given that two of Netflix' top three shows follow characters introduced on a network series, I reckon we could be seeing more of the same. “Twin Peaks” and “Star Trek” would be Netflix’ logical next steps, but of course Showtime and its parent CBS are already reviving those two shows. “24” is coming back to Fox. What’s left? “Firefly”? “The West Wing”? “Sports Night”? "Buffy"?
