Lin-Manuel Miranda overseeing adaptation of popular fantasy series THE KINGKILLER CHRONICLE!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Lin-Manuel Miranda is certainly striking while the iron is hot, isn't he? He's doing a bunch of work with Disney, from original songs in Moana to co-starring in the Mary Poppins sequel and now he's got another major thing on his plate. He's teamig with Lionsgate to produce a multi-format fantasy franchise based on a popular series called The Kingkiller Chronicle, by Pat Rothfuss.

I'm pretty out of the loop with modern fantasy novels, so this thing is new to me, but from what I gather the story is told Interview with a Vampire style as an aging Innkeeper tells his stories of his days as an adventuring magician who also happens to be a rather talented musician as well. So you get the oral history and the actual in-the-past adventures.

Miranda will executive produce the series, write the music and oversee it as they go the Dark Tower route and make the main books into theatrical features and develop a spin-off TV show to run alongside, filling out the fantasy world. There's also talk of Miranda adapting the films for the stage as well.

Gotta give the dude credit. He's taking the shot. This is his moment and he's attacking it with everything he's got!

Thoughts?
