Bill Condon's Beauty and the Beast poster nods to the late, great poster artist John Alvin!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I've said I think Bill Condon's remake of Beauty and the Beast is going to make a billion dollars, but I think I may be underestimating it. As someone who is a Disney fan who has found himself at Disney World twice this year I don't think the average critic understands the family bonding experience the 1991 film is right now.

The kids who were enraptured with that movie are now raising kids about the same age they were when they saw this thing. That's a different level of attachment than simply passing on an old movie. Even in my slightly partent-ish Uncle role I'm getting a clearer understanding of the addiction of re-experiencing things through the eyes of children and trying to pass on a similar experience to my loved ones that I had as a kid.

That's why I think Condon's movie is going to be huge. It's one of Disney's best animated films from their late '80s/early '90s resurgence (I'm still team Little Mermaid, but I acknowledge Beauty and the Beast is more prestigious) and it's still fresh enough that a live action version will heavily hit those nostalgic buttons in a way an older film might not.

Speaking of, they've released a new poster for the live action movie musical and it might look a tad familiar:

It seems the creative minds behind this new outing are well aware how much people love the original and they're hewing close to a lot of that imagery in the teaser trailer and now this poster, which looks a whole lot like John Alvin's poster for the animated film:

Smart move. Between this, Star Wars, Marvel and Pixar Disney is going to need new vaults for all the money they're going to make next year, I think.
