Krampus writers to pen GODZILLA 2 for Legendary!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Krampus was pretty damn great. It ticked off so many personal favorites... holiday horror, kids in peril, Weta Workshop monsters, pitch black humor... Trick R Treat checks many of those boxes, too. What I'm saying is I think Michael Dougherty and I have very similar tastes, so the news of him (and his Krampus partner in crime Zach Shields) stepping up to pen the next Godzilla film for Legendary is pretty darn swell.

I really enjoyed the first film, but it really does suffer from the very Godzilla-movie problem of having cool monsters and humans you just plain don't give a shit about. The opening with Bryan Cranston is gold, but then it just kind of settles into boring characters filling up space between cool big monster destruction.

Doughtery and Shields have done some very entertaining character work and that's the element I really hope they bring to the sequel.

Variety's scoop on this news mentions that Legendary is setting up a writers room for Legendary's big monster shared universe and that it's possible Dougherty and Shields will be a part of that as well. No matter what, I'm sure you'll be seeing some pretty big nods to Kong in the Godzilla sequel, which I hear will be going a more Destroy All Monsters route anyway.

So, good news all around. The first film is good, this one could be frickin' stellar.
