The trailer for Gore Verbinski's A Cure For Wellness is pretty damned unsettling!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. One of the great missed opportunities in all my time doing this movie-writing-for-a-living thing was when Gore Verbinski at the height of his Pirates of the Caribbean power couldn't quite get his $200m R-rated Bioshock movie off the ground. John Logan wrote the script and everything I heard was that Verbinski wanted to build as much of Rapture as possible instead of CGI-ing everything (hence the huge budget).

Verbinski's eye and dedication to the source material would have made something flat out spectacular and I'll always be sad we never got that film, but with the trailer for his new flick, a creepy sanitarium story called A CURE FOR WELLNESS, it seems like he's taking a lot of the disturbing period design aesthetic he might have used in Bioshock and repurposed it for a new story.

Check out the trailer below to see what I'm talking about:

Mr. Verbinski and Fox very kindly decided to open this film shortly after my birthday next year. The movie hits screens February 17th and I can't wait to watch it big. There are very few filmmakers out there that give us such gorgeous theatrical experiences like Verbinski does and no matter how everything else about this movie ends up we're guaranteed something gorgeous to look at.
