The CW says of tonight’s “Legacy”:
After Laurel's death and the departures of both Diggle and Thea from Team Arrow, Oliver takes to the streets solo to protect Star City's citizens as the Green Arrow. With Felicity guiding him from the bunker, Oliver is forced to deal with a city that has become overrun with both criminals and a slew of new (and painfully inexperienced) vigilantes. Watching Oliver try to balance his jobs as both the mayor and also the protector of Star City, Felicity suggests he form a new team, but Oliver resists. However, when a deadly new criminal, Tobias Church, enters the picture, Oliver realizes the best thing for the city might be a new team of superheroes. Meanwhile, the flashbacks take us to Russia where Oliver faces off against the Bratva.
* The great Chad Coleman (“The Wire,” “The Walking Dead”) plays Church.
* The “previously on” package depicts Oliver Queen being sworn in as Star City’s mayor.
* The season begins on a staircase. “Your brother’s late,” admonishes the man with the badge. “Late is his on-time,” retorts the pretty girl. Beware invisotext.
* Oliver’s efforts to dissuade vigilantes inspired by the Green Arrow echo Batman’s similar efforts in the Dark Knight movies.
* In the season’s first action scene, the Green Arrow uses his fists and feet a lot more than his bow. This is quite the departure from the print Oliver Queen, who preferred to let his arrows do all the talking.
* Front-page headline atop the Star City Star: “Mayor Handsome Misses City Council Meeting.” Slow news day!
* “How is it you’re so familiar with Mr. Arrow?” Church asks Oliver Queen. Little does Church know: Queen is actually the Green Arrow!
* “You murdered him,” admonishes Speedy. “I thought you didn’t do that anymore!”
* “The guy’s so clean, he doesn’t even double-park!” Oliver is told.
* “No! I’m not Green Arrow!”
