The Behind the Scenes Pic of the Day: Richard Marquand and Salacious Crumb on the set of RETURN OF THE JEDI!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. We hit up Empire yesterday, so it's only fitting that we move to Jedi today.

Poor Richard Marquand. He's the least known or respected “main saga” director still to this day. Pity is he's not a bad director and almost everything Star Wars fans dislike about Jedi are solely George Lucas' call. It's pretty clear that Lucas was way more hands on with Marquand than he was with his old mentor Irvin Kershner.

But screw the haters. I like Jedi and will go to the mat for it. The resolution of the Emperor/Luke/Vader triangle is still one of the best dramatic material in any of the Star Wars movies. The Emperor is still one of the best villains ever because of how he trapped the protagonist. The no-win situation he puts Luke in is brilliant and makes the last minute save by Daddy Skywalker all that more impactful.

Anyway, here's a shot from Jedi of poor ol' Richard Marquand working with one of the jokers in his cast.

Tomorrow I leave for a weeklong family vacation at Disney World, so I'm going to be doing things a little differently while I'm away. Check in later tonight to see what's what. You'll find your happy place, I promise.
