Alita has found her Hugo in Keean Johnson!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. As Robert Rodriguez's adaptation of the popular manga and anime title ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL approaches principal photography we're starting to see the cast round out a bit. We know we have Christoph Waltz, Jackie Earl Haley, Ed Skrein, and Rosa Salazar as the title character and now Alita's sweet baboo has been cast, according to THR.

Nashville's Keean Johnson will play Hugo, a young tinkerer and companion for Alita. This is the first time I've seen his face, so I have no idea how fit he is for the role, but with James Cameron producing I have a feeling all the casting on this picture is supremely vetted and if he won the role he must have earned it.

As I've said a few times before, I'm extremely curious how Rodriguez will pull this one off, what his approach to the material will be and how he'll execute it on a technical level. I think audiences on the whole have moved past the "filmed in a green box" style of movie and something like this cries out for elaborate sets and awesomely choreographed action scenes.

Thoughts?
