Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Robert Rodriguez's adaptation of Alita: Battle Angel is rolling forward full steam ahead. James Cameron and Lightstorm's Jon Landau are pulling the strings behind the scenes (remember they spent years trying to get a Battle Angel film off the ground for Cameron to direct) and I've heard some cool things are being prepped right now here in Austin for the shoot.
THR says the cast of this crazy story about an ass-kicking female cyborg has grown by one and that one is Jackie Earle Haley. He's believed to be playing the main villain, which will utilize a lot of performance capture and CG to realize.
Jackie Earle Haley has used his recent turns as Freddy Krueger and Rorschach into a later career boom. He's always given it his all, going back into his child actor days (can anybody get any cooler than Kelly Leak in Bad News Bears?) but now he's become one of our best working character actors.
He'll join Christoph Waltz and Maze Runner's Rosa Salazar in the flick. Very excited to see how Rodriguez attacks this particular project. If it's not all CG spectacle he's got a killer cast brewing and some cool source material that could be something damn fun. Thoughts?
