Ben Affleck to produce, direct and star in a new adaptation of Agatha Christie's WITNESS FOR THE PROSECUTION!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I recently watched Billy Wilder's adaptation of Agatha Christie's Witness For The Prosecution for something secret-ish and cool I'm cooking up for you guys and adored it, thanks in large part to Charles Laughton's perfectly quirky performance as lead defense attorney (I know he's playing a barrister, but it's the same difference) who is in ill-health and is constantly fighting with his nagging nurse.

Deadline broke a story that Ben Affleck is setting up a new screen adaptation of Christie's story for 20th Century Fox, with the plan being that Affleck would produce, star and direct.

The star of the story is the defense attorney, but if I were to guess I'd say Affleck's a better fit for the Tyrone Power role, which is the man on trial for murder. He's a handsome dude who is accussed of murder when an older rich woman falls in love with him, leaves him her estate and then mysteriously dies. It's a less flashy part, but way more in line with his type than the aging attorney in poor health.

There's lots of juicy roles in this thing and if Affleck actually gets into production with this I imagine he'll have his pick of today's best and brightest actors to fill it out.

Excited for this one. What about you?
