PAPILLON is being remade and Mr. Robot's Rami Malek will co-star with Charlie Hunnam!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Papillon is one of my favorite Steve McQueen movies. It might not be as cool as Bullitt or as flat out great as Magnificent Seven, but it's one of McQueen's best turns as an actor, thanks in large part to the fantastic Dalton Trumbo and Lorenzo Semple Jr. script (which William Goldman reportedly also contributed to) adaptation of Henri Charrier's novel. So much rich character work in this prison break story and McQueen not only benefited from that, but also from being lifted up by one of the greatest actors of his time: Dustin Hoffman.

There's a remake in the works and Charlie Hunnam is in the McQueen role and according to Deadline Mr. Robot's Rami Malek will take over the Dustin Hoffman part.

The only thing really known about the angle on the remake is that it's going to be in a contemporary setting instead of a period setting. Not sure how much I like that approach, but I guess an island prison in South America is probably going to be about the same today anyway. It's not like they're going to have the guards walking around with iPads... right?

It'll be interesting to see these two take over these roles, that's sure.
