Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Mashable has some interesting news about Adam Wingard's big adaptation of DEATH NOTE. Looks like Willem Dafoe will play the most iconic thing from that property: Ryuk, who is a Shinigami, a demonic looking race of beings who thrive off of ending the lives of humans prematurely, although they don't directly kill anyone. They give that power to other humans.
That creepy looking mofo above is Ryuk and making the voice that comes out of that sharp-toothed mouth Willem Dafoe's is a pretty inspired choice.
Wingard was initially directing this for Warner Bros, but it seems Netflix has acquired the property, which is just as exciting these days, honestly. Although I would love to see this thing big, so hopefully they do a theatrical release as well as Netflix drop.
