Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I've never really gotten into the Tom Clancy games. There's something just blatantly unfun about the gameplay for the ones I've tried out that I just let them pass me by.
The set-up for The Division actually sounds pretty interesting. It takes place just after a smallpox epidemic breaks out (triggered by someone infecting currency with the disease on Black Friday) and is about a government team solving the mystery of this epidemic while the chaos it has caused is still raging in the streets.
I see why you look at that and say "Yeah, we should do that as a movie." Jake Gyllenhaal is producing and starring in a film version of this game and THR says he's to be joined by Jessica Chastain.
One of these days a video game movie will hit and hit big and when that happens the floodgates will open. It might be Assassin's Creed that does it. It might be this film. Who knows? But there's a ton of rich worldbuilding in the game world that's ripe for the picking.
