Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: Breakout replacing Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at Disney's California Adventure Theme Park.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I have to start out by saying I adore Guardians of the Galaxy. It's one of my favorite Marvel movies and I love it to bits and pieces. I also adore the Disney theme parks. I'm a season pass holder even though I live half the country away and visit the California parks 5-6 times a year.

The idea of there being a Guardians of the Galaxy ride at Disney's California Adventure is awesome. The fact that it's taking over Twilight Zone Tower of Terror... not so awesome.

I get it. There's only so much room for them build and Star Wars Land is going to take over every square inch of new real estate they've gotten around the Disney parks. I just can't help being bummed that Rod Serling is being booted out for Groot. There's something awesome about introducing a whole generation of kids to Twilight Zone through that ride that we're going to miss out on now.

As far as I know, the Tower of Terror in Orlando is still going to be there and to be fair, that version of the ride is far superior to the one in Anaheim, so it's not the end of the world, but I still can't help feel a twinge of sadness that this is happening.

Here's what Tower of Tower looks like right now and I'll follow this up with some concept images showing you what to expect from GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY – MISSION: BREAKOUT, which will debut in 2017.

The basic structure of the ride will be the same, as well as the feel of the ride (you're still going to be yo-yo'd up and down), but now you're getting footage of the actors in the queue (including Benicio del Toro's Collector character). All the new footage will be directed by James Gunn, which is pretty neat.

Here's the art for the new ride:

Progress happens, change happens. I don't like it much, but I guess as long as they don't fuck with my beloved Haunted Mansion I won't be ready to call a boycott or anything. Hope I can make it back over there at least one more time before they start construction.

What do you folks think?
