Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. July 22nd, 2016 was the final day of shooting for Rian Johnson's Star Wars Episode VIII and we have proof, thanks to the official Star Wars Twitter:

That means a year and half of post production is about to get underway. It does not mean, however, that we've seen the last bit of filming for Episode VIII. JJ Abrams did some reshoots the year of release, Rogue One is currently doing reshoots for its movie and I wouldn't be at all surprised if Episode VIII has some money and time set aside for pick up shots or new scenes as the movie comes together in the editing room.
That's the way of modern filmmaking and that's a good thing as long as the reshoots aren't forced upon the director. Most directors I know love the ability to go fill in some holes they discover during editing.
But as of right now, Episode VIII is wrapped, which means there's a whole new Star Wars movie out there in pieces. It exists and, presumably, it features Luke Skywalker actually saying some things this time.
Now we only have a year and half to wait. Grumble-grumble-grumble.
