The poster for WONDER WOMAN promises a different kind of DC film!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. If you needed any more proof that Warner Bros and the creative minds behind the DCEU were listening to criticisms of their superhero films then look no further than the new poster for Patty Jenkins' standalone Wonder Woman film.

It literally shows the character coming out of the darkness and into the light. Look:

I tend to take their word on it that's the direction they were moving in anyway (Wonder Woman was filmed before the release of BvS, of course), but whatever the reason for the choice I think it's a good one.

There's a misconception out there that all critics and fans want a brighter, light hearted DC universe. Perhaps some do, but speaking for myself I just want there to be an element of fun and to see some sort of non-cynical connection between the characters. The Dark Knight is one of my favorite movies (let alone superhero movies) of the past 20 years and the cinematography is dark, the characters are moody, but there's a flair to it. It takes itself seriously, but it's not up its own butt if you know what I mean.

DC shouldn't be Marvel, but if it can use some of the tricks when it comes to character work that Marvel's Cinematic Universe has perfected I think it'll finally find its footing.

It's very possible Wonder Woman will be the first DCEU film to nail it 100% and as a geek I'm hoping they do. At the very least we know we get this gorgeous poster out of it.
