Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. We're in the homestretch for this week's BTS focus on the influences of Netflix's Stranger Things. Since I don't have any good stuff from Monster Squad, I had to go with the next obvious “group of kids out on an adventure” flick: The Goonies.
While the kids in Stranger Things have more of an IT/ET vibe to the makeup of the group, you can't deny that there's a dash of Richard Donner's Goonies in there as well, most noteably in Gaten Matarazzo's Dustin Henderson character who comes off a hell of a lot like Chunk in some scenes. I'm not talking about physique here, I'm talking about personality. Both characters are innocently hyper-enthusiastic.
So today I have an image feature Jeff Cohen and (I believe) his mom and sister practicing what appears to be ballet with Kerri Green during the location shoot on the movie. The image can be sourced to Buzzfeed, who ran a great article featuring rare BTS images from this movie courtesy of Spielberg's personal assistant at the time, Mark Marshall.
