Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Oliver Stone held a Snowden panel in Hall H at the San Diego Comic-Con today. Weird, right? I'm not on the ground at SDCC this year and I honestly don't miss the stress of covering the con, but I do kinda wish I was there today to see Luc Besson's Valerian panel (just because I love Besson and can't wait to see what his return to sci-fi looks like) and the weird Oliver Stone panel where he shit-talked Pokemon Go as "surveillance capitalism."
As someone who was there for all the bizarre insanity that was Francis Ford Coppola's Twixt panel (where he attempted to lead 6,000 geeks into a cult-like chant of "Nosferatu" way past the point of comfort for just about everybody in that room) it's these kinds of off-kilter panels that make the Con actually fun to cover for folks like me.
But I'm not there this year, just like 99% of you reading this. Thankfully we'll get just about everything shown in some form online, starting now with the new Snowden trailer.
