Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for the 1990 mini-series adaptation of Stephen King's IT. My mom was a King reader. I was just starting to read King myself, so this was an event in my household.
I'm currently a few hundred pages into a re-read of IT (I'll be writing up some thoughts on this revisit soon-ish) and it's striking me just how close the mini-series stuck to King's text. There are big changes (usually when it brushed up with the rating system, of course... and that whole gangbang subplot), but in flow and dialogue it's pretty much a straight adaptation.
A lot of the mini-series is dated now, but I'll always love Tim Curry's turn as Pennywise. Today's pic, celebrating the inspirations of the fantastic Netflix show STRANGER THINGS, shows off Curry in full makeup posing with young Adam Faraizl, who played Eddie Kaspbrak, who looks appropriately nervous even here.
Ah, the late '80s/early '90s when it was still cool to smoke everywhere, even if you were an evil child-killing clown.
