Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Disney's played it smart with their Conventions so far. They either livestream everything, like at Celebration currently going on, or they immediately release the exciting glimpses at their new Star Wars movie beyond just the few thousand people sitting in a convention hall, like at SDCC last year.
They've also figured out that the warmth we fans get from seeing Behind the Scenes footage is better than a quick clip. That worked wonders for Episode 7 and now they've done it with Rogue One.
The poster is above and the sizzle reel is below. The poster I don't think is too hot. Reminds me of the posters you can flip through at Wal-Mart amongst Nascar stars, the current teen heart throb pop sensations and weird inspirational posters not a one-sheet, but it gets the message across, I guess.
The sizzle reel, though, is pretty damn great. Watch and we'll come back and discuss:
That thing could have just been 4 minutes of Donnie Yen bitch-slapping that Stormtrooper and I would have been happy. I dig the location work and determination to stick to practical effects, especially the rear screen projection work instead of just taping up green fabric over the windows.
I hear they also showed a real deal clip at Celebration that featured the one and only Darth Vader, so I guess it's officially official now that everybody's favorite Sith Lord plays a part in this one.
You can follow along with Celebration panels as they stream live via YouTube. It's like you're there!
