The Behind the Scenes Pic of the Day: Frank, Wolfy and Drac share some laughs during the making of ABBOTT AND COSTELLO MEET FRANKENSTEIN!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Yesterday it was revealed that Javier Bardem was stepping into Frankenstein's Monster's big old boots, so I figured today's BTS pic should be Universal Monster related.

The concept of a shared monster universe is not new. In fact, the Universal Monsters were perhaps the earliest popular studio series to cross over with each other. Frankenstein fought The Wolf-Man in 1943's Frankenstein Meets Wolf-Man and crossed over with Dracula, Wolf-Man and “hunchback” in 1944's House of Frankenstein. Before the superheroes did it, the Universal Monsters did it, so it's no surprise that Universal's going to try to dip back into their historic shared monster universe.

My personal favorite gathering of the classic monsters is, of course, 1948's Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein. It's one of my happy place movies, so I figured I'd share a couple nice BTS pics from the film.

I've got 2 images for you, the first comes from longtime BtSPotD source William Forsche and features Bela Lugosi having a laugh with Glenn Strange's Frankenstein's Monster. Of course Lugosi is rocking a stogie. As you do. The second image is a studio publicity shot of Strange and Lon Chaney Jr. chilling out in full make-up during the making of the film.

Tomorrow I feel like dipping into some '80s Spielberg. Come on back for a nifty shot from one of The Beard's most beloved films.
