Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. As someone who was particularly fond of Wreck-It Ralph today's official announcement of the sequel makes me super happy.
I felt the original film was the most Pixar-y movie Disney Animation Studios had done, which is a good thing. It had the heart, the humor and the smarts. Can we expect the same from the sequel? With the talent behind it I'd say that's a safe bet. Wreck-It Ralph co-director Phil Johnston returns and will be working alongside Zootopia's Rich Moore... I say "will be," but it sounds like this project has been in the works for a long time.
Today they announced the sequel officially, gave us a release date (March 9th, 2018) and confirmed that both John C. Reilly and Sarah Silverman will return to voice the leads.
They also released the above photo, which shows Ralph and Vanellope towering over the Internet. Yep, that's right. He's out of the classic arcade and somehow into the World Wide Web in this one. I have no idea how you keep this movie PG when that's the case, but I'm sure we'll find out. And who knows? Maybe Ralph can stop by the AICN talkbacks and shake things up a little bit. Could you imagine?
Anyway, that's the news. I like it. I'm all for it. Good way to start off a Thursday morning!
