Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I didn't hate Batman V Superman. Didn't love it, either, but I must admit I'm curious to see the huge amount that was cut out... The film as released felt sloppy and choppy to me, so it's quite possible this epic half-hour longer cut could fix some of the pacing and motivation issues I had.
The new trailer gives us some glimpses that could very well benefit Superman's arc here. One of the film's big failings to me was never showing us that Superman actually cared about the people he saved (or couldn't save). My favorite bit in this footage was his face watching the news report where a woman whose loved ones he couldn't save asking how he chooses.
Snyder's been good about cutting Superman's invincible power down by showing him handle the weight of impossible decisions. I'll always defend the ending of Man of Steel for that reason. If only he could balance that out by showing the joy of saving those he can.
Not sure we'll get that here, but it seems like at least Superman's getting more depth and Batman's getting more to show his obsession with Superman. Check it out:
I don't expect this cut will make me a radical fan of the film, but it can only help fill in some of the big gaps in the theatrical version.
