Hello ladies and gentlemen, Muldoon here with the latest trailer for NINE LIVES, a film about a man who finds himself stuck in the body of his family cat. (Record scratch) Wait... What? The premise alone feels like a riff on Disney's SHAGGY DOG, but with cats, how could that be something cool? Well for starters, the film attracted insanely fun actors like Kevin Spacey and Christopher Walken. While Walken's appeared as the mystical figure who bestows a magical device to an individual in need of retuning before (CLICK), the fact that he's bouncing dialog off of Frank Underwood is hard to ignore. The trailer seems fun, and with a supporting cast of individuals like Jennifer Garner, Malina Weissman, and Cheryl Hines - this could be a fun ride. I still can't believe this movie exists (in a good way), as it feels like one of the trailers from TROPIC THUNDER. Am I going to see this film? Yep. Am I expecting something truly revolutionary? No, but... Kevin Spacey... as a talking cat! To be honest, I'd happily pay to watch Christopher Walken read the ingredients of a cereal box, as he'd find a way to make it interesting. Again, I know very little about the film, but think it's trailer is pretty funny. The film looks utterly absurd, but also feels like everyone involved was in on the joke, so my curiosity is more than piqued. NINE LIVES is directed by Barry Sonnenfeld and hits theaters August 5th.
Wow, so that exists. I honestly don't mean that in any condescending/negative sort of way whatsoever, I'm just a bit surprised. Am I just a little confused and it's actually viral marketing for something totally different? How about you folks? What are your thoughts on the trailer? (I'm just hoping to see a few puns in the Talkbacks, as I resisted above.)
