Check Out a Fun ILM Featurette on the VFX of WARCRAFT

Hello ladies and gentlemen, Muldoon here with a pretty cool (albeit way too short!) look at what ILM's done with WARCRAFT. Today's been rather all over the place news-wise, and as I happened to come across this interesting promo for the latest Duncan Jones film via a VFX blog - I thought quite a few folks in the AICN audience would get a kick out of it. I played World of Warcraft for a few months around 2009 and slayed boars till I was blue in the face, did dungeons with strangers, and had fun exploring that digital universe. It's a ripe world to pick from and as I was over the moon with MOON and had fun with SOURCE CODE, I'm very much looking forward to what Jones does with the property. Given the film has countless orcs (among other fantastic creatures), the question of how to get them from words on a page to "living" characters that can elicit emotions... that's a tricky beast in itself. Between prosthetics and special makeup appliances you can only do so much, so the creatives behind the film hit up the magicians of the VFX industry, ILM. You can't help but be impressed with the company, a group of artists that have impacted us all with their work. Below is essentially an advertisement for the film, but my word it's just fascinating.

They've also released a handful of images that show the actors underneath the pixeled performers. Here are just a few, but you should definitely give the rest a look if you're curious!
