Guess Who's Not Directing GODZILLA 2 Anymore

Hello ladies and gentlemen, Muldoon here with what I consider some rather bummer news. Deadline is reporting that the GODZILLA director has decided to take a step back from returning to the world of the lovable giant lizard in GODZILLA 2. The three hitters involved, Edwards, Warner Brothers, and Legendary consider the split "amicable," after the film was pushed back a year from summer 2018 to March 22, 2019.

Before we all assume the worst, let's take a step back and think of how cool this might actually be. The man's currently finishing up his own STAR WARS film (which looks epic by all accounts), so who knows what all he's got up his sleeve next? I'll be honest, I'd rather have a director who's passionate about Godzilla's future story to be at the helm, as opposed to a great talent whose heart just isn't in it. Who really knows what goes on behind those closed doors where these types of deals play out. The guy is skilled and both Warner Brothers and Legendary know how to put together massive films, so while on one hand it stinks that the guy who did well (my opinion here!) with the first film isn't coming back, that means there's an open slot for another talent to come in, fresh with their own ideas/concepts/input into how to make the best Godzilla film possible.

While they figure out what their plan of attack is for the next Godzilla movie, I'm dying to see KONG: SKULL ISLAND and how they set us up for our 2020 GODZILLA VS. KONG.

What are your thoughts, folks? Is this good? Bad?
