Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Today is a good day. First of all, the above image of Carla Juri is one of the first to pop up on a Google Image search, so that means when 95% of blogs and various entertainment outlets report on the news that she was cast in Denis Villenueve's Blade Runner sequel they will use the above pic without having any idea what Wetlands is or just how gross that seemingly innocent photo is. (She's rubbing some bodily fluids on her lips right there if you haven't seen the movie. Ewww, I know, but seriously check out the movie. It's weird and gross as hell, but also shockingly sweet and very well made.)
I get a kick out of that. I also get a kick out of her casting, which I heard about first on Deadline. Juri is some fresh blood joining an already stellar cast which includes Harrison Ford, returning as Dekkard, and Ryan Gosling and Robin Wright.
I'm shocked this thing is actually happening and I am foaming at the mouth to get a glimpse of Villenueve's vision of that distinctly iconic world. The man's work up till now has the right noir flavor and if nothing else it's a safe bet this film will look absolutely gorgeous.
Outside of Ford, nobody really knows anything about the other characters except all the actors attached are great. I'm very excited about this one. Are you?
