Listen up, nerds! This is the best news you are going to get this week.
No doubt by now, you have heard the infamous legend of the kids who dedicated every waking moment of their young lives to creating and filming a shot for shot remake of RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK. If you haven’t, it’s about time you learned.
In the 1980s, friends Eric Zala, Chris Strompolos and Jayson Lamb banded together on what would be a 7-year project to create an homage to their favorite film. The film that was the very definition of movies and adventure, and that captured their imaginations like no other – RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK.
They were able to complete their master work with one exception – the scene at the airfield. It haunted them to adulthood, until a couple of years ago, when they put together a Kickstarter campaign to fund the last remaining scene and bring their journey to a close.
This quest was documented by directors Jeremy Coon and Tim Skousen in RAIDERS!: THE STORY OF THE GREATEST FAN FILM EVER MADE. The doc is set to hit theaters and VOD on June 17th and now has a trailer and a FANTASTIC poster to go with it.
Check it out – you might see a few familiar faces.
BUT WAIT!!! We’re not done!
In addition to a VOD rollout, stars/creators/heroes Zala and Strompolos will be taking the film on tour this summer, sponsored by Drafthouse Films. The tour will include the amazing opportunity to catch a double feature of the doc and the original fan film remake that they invested their entire childhood in.
If you haven’t seen the fan film, let me tell you – it is one of the most glorious experiences you will ever have. So much love, passion and dedication went into this, and it is evident in every frame.
