Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. This trailer just came to my attention, so apologies if you've seen it already, but considering I'm a pretty massive fan of Park Chan-Wook's work and it slipped by me I'm assuming it slipped by some of you guys, too.
His newest film is The Handmaiden, which bows at Cannes and has already found a US home via Amazon Studios, and it's a period love story set in 1930s Japan and Korea. And the trailer is gorgeous.
It's also hypnotic and, dare I say, Kubrickian in framing, camera movement and lushness of production design. Check it out:
I have no idea what the fuck is going on in that trailer, but I know I'm desperate to see it. We need more teasers like that for US movies, no?
Really wish I was at Cannes so I could see this movie, like, now, but I'll try to be patient. Key word being try...
