Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I mean, I kinda had to post this, right? I'm the resident dude getting eaten by a shark guy around these parts, so naturally my ears perk up any time there's a new killer shark movie out.
The Shallows is a Blake Lively vehicle about a resourceful surfer girl who has to match wits with an agressive maneater and fuck yes. This is my kind of schlocky storytelling right here.
As much as I dig killer shark movies as a subgenre there's actually very few good ones. Even the insane Italian Jaws ripoffs of the '70s are boring as fuck for 85% of their runtime. I sincerely hope this one ends up being as ridiculous and fun escapist filmmaking as the trailers make it out to be.
